I love compiling these “Best Of” lists….they get a lot of great feedback and offer insight into some of the coolest properties available in Toronto.
We spend a lot of time selling lofts downtown and few things give me as much pleasure as a great loft space. Although the real-deal, truly authentic hard lofts are my favourite, there are some truly outstanding soft-loft spaces out there.
Here are 5 of my current favourites, available as of Sept 17th 2013:
- The first of my current favourites is 6 Bartlett Ave #11 (W2740910). What I love so much about this loft is that it offers ridiculous value for a truly authentic Toronto loft. At $390/psf you will rarely see better value for such a cool space. Clocking in at 1473sqft on 3-levels with soaring ceilings, roof-top terrace, wood-burning fireplace and a private garage. This 2+1 is a winner for $575,000.
- Cube Lofts in Little Italy began occupancy in May of 2013 after many years of construction. There are a total of 21 luxury units in this soft-loft but none come close to the spectacular penthouse currently up for grabs. With 2118 of interior space and 1656sqft of private rooftop terrace this loft is all about entertaining. Other features include private elevator access directly into the suite, no expenses have been spared with the appliances and finishes. This is a great building in a neighbourhood that oozes charm and a space that is awe-inspiring. All of this for $2,327,600.
- Claremont is a street that runs between Queen St W and Mansfield St and has no fewer than 3 loft buildings on it. All of them are hard lofts. Right now there is a truly spectacular loft available at 62 Claremont St. For $1,295,000 you can get over 2300sqft of truly inspiring loft space. It’s one of eight units in the Claremont Lofts, a former banquet hall built in the early 1930s, and converted into condos in 1999. This particular loft has been completely modernized with an epic walnut central staircase.
- Another favourite soft-loft building is Freed’s 10 Morrison, tucked behind the hustle of King West. It fronts on a small street off of Adelaide and it’s design impressed a lot of people tired of the convention condos popping up in the area. Currently available in the lower-penthouse is an epic 2,245sqft of luxury living space with almost 1300sqft of additional outdoor space. Although a purpose-built condo, this luxury space has a lot of the loft features you love; exposed concrete, floor-to-ceiling windows, gas fireplace and much more.
- 20 Niagara – conjures oohs and ahhs from loft-enthusiasts and has done so since the late 1990’s. This is a mid-rise building credited with kick-starting the condo colonization around Bathurst and King. Context, the developers, have won a raft of architecture awards, including one from the Ontario Association of Architects. This is the largest loft in the building, with enough space in the master bedroom for two separate ensuite bathrooms, each with its own walk-in closet. Terraces line both the east and west sides of the condo. The eastern terrace, which overlooks Victoria Memorial Park, has been fully tricked out for entertaining with a kitchen, bar and fire pit. $2,150,000.
